WHAT IS A DESK ASSISTANT/SECURITY MONITOR?
Desk Assistants/Security Monitors (DA/SMs) are the front line of safety and security in the residence halls. So, it's important that we have the best people working the front desks of our residence halls to keep everyone safe from harm.
As a primary function of this role is the safety and security of our community, please note that cell phones, tablets, laptops, or other devices CANNOT be used during your work shift.
Before we start you on your journey for success, we have a few requirements for the job:
Enrollment at SDSU with a minimum of 6 credit units at all times
Courses taken at SDSU Global Campus or other universities do not count towards the 6-unit minimum
A minimum overall GPA of 2.0
2.5 or higher preferred
Good judicial standing
CURRENT DA/SMs ONLY
DA/SMs interested in returning for the next academic year will need to complete the “DA/SM Returning Applicants” Application when opened. Completing an application and having positive performance reviews are both necessary for you to be considered for a position. You will be asked for your current supervisor to complete a feedback form.
PAST DA/SMs ONLY
If you previously served as a DA/SM (prior to this current year) and had to leave due to study abroad, internships, or other purposes, and are interested in rejoining our team, please email reoslselection@sdsu.edu for the next steps.

"WHEN DO I HAVE TO BE BACK IN AUGUST?"
The anticipated training start date is August 17th, 2024. You must be available for this in-person training to be considered a candidate.
If you have signed a license agreement with the Office of Housing Administration, we will discuss early arrival arrangements when offers are made.
DA/SMs will start their shifts in early-mid August.
